Hi, I'm Tyler, a product designer based in Oregon

I was born and raised east of Portland, Oregon. My parents encouraged an environment of exploration, creativity, and curiosity, so I grew up taking things apart to learn how they worked and making things with my hands. LEGO was my toy of choice, and I used it to explore the world of mechanics. My family didn't have a lot of money, so the things I had, I wanted to protect. I became fascinated with cases and containers for things - my gameboy, calculator, notebooks, pencils - I wanted to protect everything and keep it safe and organized.

After a few jobs in my early twenties, I was curious about electronics, which led me to achieve an Associates in Electronics Engineering Technology from Clackamas Community College, graduating with honors. I was immediately hired at Intel Corporation, where I spent five years as a manufacturing technician. While there I developed a longing and deep desire to do something creative, and in my exploration, I discovered Industrial Design as a career field.

I was accepted to Oregon College of Art and Craft pursuing a BFA in Functional Objects; I resigned my position at Intel. Two years into my BFA, the school closed, but those two years were transformational in my life, and I am forever grateful to my inspiring professors and colleagues. OCAC cured my depression - it was a wonderful, magical place.

After OCAC closed, I took some time to figure out what was next. After much thinking, prayer, and talking with friends, I was accepted to University of Oregon's BFA for Product Design in Eugene, Oregon. The professors, instructors, and coursework here have developed a love for soft goods, bags, backpacks, footwear, CAD work in Rhino, and rendering in Keyshot and V-Ray.

Outside of Product Design, I enjoy photography, 3D printing, electronic music, book layout and book binding, poster design, old iPods, and the occasional LEGO set. I love talking about the functional aspects of design, and how products could be improved for the user.

I am currently a Senior at the University of Oregon majoring in Product Design expecting to graduate June of 2025.
